How to Feed a Cat Chicken and Rice

Homemade meals and treats -- particularly those containing chicken -- can be tasty, nutritious alternatives to commercially prepared cat food. However, cats' nutritional needs differ from humans. As carnivores, cats have no need for plant-based foods such as rice. However, rice is not dangerous, in small quantities, to cats. In fact, veterinarian Patricia Schenck includes numerous meat and rice combinations in her pet food cookbook. You can occasionally indulge your cats by serving them chicken and rice.
