Instructions
Keep your adult cats on a meat-based diet with nutritional minerals. All cats require taurine, an amino acid that helps with the cat's heart function, vision and reproduction system. Meat-based cat foods, from brands such as Science Diet, Purina and Iams contain taurine.
Focus on coat quality, if your cat is on the show circuit. Food, such as Science Diet and Iams contain eggs that build lean muscle and promote a shiny coat, which is important if you want your cat to look good in front of the judges.
Give your cat extra nutrients and minerals, particularly if they have recently fell ill or had surgery. Food, such as Purina One and Iams can help your cat get the correct nutrition.
Feed your cat according to their energy level. Lazy cats that strictly lie around all day require less food than other cats that burn all of their energy and calories. With cats that lounge, feed them two to three cups of cat food a day. Feed energetic cats three to four cups of cat food a day. Each cat should have two feeding times: one in the morning and one in the late afternoon.
How to Feed a 2-Year-Old Cat
Feeding your 2-year-old cat properly can make the difference between a healthy long-living cat and a cat that will become malnourished and throw up mounds of hairballs. A 2-year-old cat is the equivalent of a 25-year-old person, so their nutrition has to help them maintain their muscle mass and joint function for years to come. Knowing their strengths and weaknesses can help you feed your cat.
