Techni-Cal Dry Cat Food Ingredients

Techni-Cal dry cat food is an all natural brand of cat food, offering balanced nutrition that has been formulated specifically for cats who need a mostly protein diet to thrive. Techni-Cal offers dry food for kittens, adult cats, seniors and cats with special needs. Each kind of dry food has different ingredients based on the needs of that type of cat.
  1. Kitten

    • Techni-Cal's kitten food contains protein from chicken meal, fish meal and a whole dried egg. Chicken meal is the first ingredient. Chicken fat is added to provide calories. Ground corn and beet pulp are included as well. Techni-Cal's kitten food has 15 added vitamins, including vitamin C, vitamin E and the B vitamins, and six added minerals, iron, copper and selenium. Protein makes up 34 percent of the food, while fat makes up 22 percent. Fiber, ash, moisture, calcium and phosphorus make up the rest.

    Adult

    • There are six varieties of adult cat food, including adult, rabbit and duck, lamb, ocean fish, indoor cat and choosy cat. All six varieties include chicken meal and chicken fat. The other meat varieties are as noted on their labels. Techni-Cal's adult cat food choices have some kind of meat or meat meal as the first ingredient, some combination of rice, rice meal, corn, corn meal, beet pulp and oat, and added vitamins and minerals. All adult cat food has 32 to 33 percent protein and 19 percent fat, with the exception of the indoor cat formula, which has 29 percent protein and 11.5 percent fat. The indoor cat food is formulated to prevent obesity in less active cats.

    Senior

    • The senior cat food differs from the other kinds as it does not have a meat as the first ingredient. Chicken meal is the second ingredient in this food, while ground corn takes the first spot. Dried egg and fish meal make up the rest of the protein sources. Ground rice, corn gluten meal, pea fiber and beet pulp are also included. Like the other foods, the senior cat food gets its fat content from chicken fat. This food also has added vitamins and minerals. Protein makes up 30 percent and fat makes up 15 percent. Both protein and fat are lower in this food to accommodate a senior cat's slowed metabolism.

    Special Needs

    • There are three different special needs foods: weight control, urinary health and hairball control. Urinary health is formulated to regulate urinary acidity to prevent feline lower urinary tract disease. Chicken meal is the only source of protein in this food. Ground corn, corn gluten meal and ground wheat make up the carbohydrates, while chicken fat provides the fat. The standard added vitamins and minerals are present in this food, but calcium and magnesium are reduced to under one percent each. Urinary health has a 31 percent protein content and a 10 percent fat content.

Weight control focuses on low fat content, a higher fiber content, and omega 3 and 6 nutrition. Protein comes from chicken meal and fish meal, and makes up 29 percent of this food. Ground corn, ground rice, corn gluten meal, pea fiber, beet pulp and rice hulls give Techni-Cal's weight control cat food its 5.5 percent fiber content. The fat content, which is 10 percent, comes from chicken fat. Added vitamins and minerals are included in this food as well.

Hairball control combines a standard amount of protein and fat with a higher fiber content to prevent the formation of hairballs. Chicken meal is the first ingredient. Fish meal and dried egg make up the rest of the protein content. Ground rice, ground corn and pea fiber are the carbohydrate sources. Chicken fat provides the fat. Hairball control contains 31 percent protein, 19 percent fat and five percent fiber.
