Homemade Grain-Free Cat Treats

As a pet owner, you are concerned about what you feed your cat. In recent years, many cat food products have been recalled. The recalls were mostly related to Salmonella. Many owners have resorted to making their own cat food and cat treats. The important thing to remember if you make all of your pet's food is that they are getting a balanced, nutritional diet.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup minced cooked turkey
  • 1/2 cup mashed cooked pumpkin
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon kelp
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 3 tablespoons cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped alfalfa sprouts
  • 1 pound ground turkey, chicken or beef
  • 1/3 cup grated carrots
  • 1/3 cup broccoli, chopped in blender
  • 1/4 cup liver, pureed in blender
  • 4 to 8 cat vitamin tablets, powdered

Instructions

  1. Turkey and Pumpkin Treats

      Mix the minced turkey, mashed pumpkin, oil and kelp.

      Roll into marble-size balls.

      Give one treat to your cat. Store the rest in a resealable plastic bag in the refrigerator.

    Cheesy Munchies

      Break two eggs into a bowl. Beat the eggs slightly until uniform in color.

      Add milk, cottage cheese and alfalfa sprouts. Stir until mixed well.

      Coat a nonstick frying pan with small amount of cooking oil or spray. Heat over medium heat.

      Form the mixture into patties. Place patties into frying pan. Brown on both sides.

      Chop patties into small, serving size pieces. Serve. Store leftovers in refrigerator.

    Complete Meal Cubes

      Mix turkey, chicken or beef with the carrots, broccoli, liver and powdered vitamins in medium bowl until well blended.

      Place mixture in ice cube trays. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze.

      Remove from ice cube trays and place in resealable freezer bags when thoroughly frozen, at least eight hours. Return to freezer.

      Remove a complete meal cube from the freezer bag. Thaw. Feed to your cat.
