Things You'll Need
- Syringe
- Beef baby food
- Lactose-free milk
- Water
- Dry or canned cat food
Instructions
Purchase beef baby food and a syringe. Cats that refuse to eat may need to be fed by a syringe. Mix 1 tablespoon of beef baby food with about 1/4 cup of lactose-free milk to soften it. This will allow the mix to go into the syringe easier. The milk also will add nutrients.
Place two spoonfuls of beef baby food on top of the dry or canned cat food. If your cat has a decrease in appetite, the baby food should help increase your pet's desire to eat. You can soften the dry food a little as well by adding some water. If you are giving canned food, only give 1/4 of the can at a time and make sure it has a strong smell. Adding the baby food on top or mixing it in to the dry or canned cat food will help your cat eat all of the food.
Put baby food with little lactose-free milk into a bowl for the cat to eat on her own. You can offer your pet baby food as a treat once or twice a week. If your cat is old and lacks teeth, it will be difficult for your pet to eat hard food. Therefore, giving your cat some baby food once a day will help encourage your cat to eat along with strong smelling soft canned food.
