Instructions
Method One
Place a meat choice in a bowl. Appropriate meat choices for a serving of cat food includes 1/2 cup of cooked and shredded beef or 1 cup of cooked and cubed chicken. Avoid canned fishes; these are not healthy for cats with urinary tract infections.
Add a minimum of one vegetable to the meat. Appropriate vegetable choices include 1 cup of any of the following: finely chopped celery, shredded carrots, broccoli that has been steamed and chopped, or potato that has been skinned, cooked and cut into cubes. You also can use multiple vegetables.
Add 2 tablespoons of either steamed rice or cooked oatmeal to the vegetable and meat mixture.
Stir in one to two splashes of chicken or beef broth to mix it all together. You want to moisten the food but you do not want it swimming in liquid. The amount of broth you use depends on how many vegetables you add.
Feed your cat your homemade food twice a day. It is best to try different meat and vegetable combinations from a day to day. This ensures your cat is getting the appropriate minerals and vitamins.
Method Two
Cook your chosen meat. You can use 1/2 pound boneless chicken, 1/2 pound of lean beef, 6 ounces ground turkey or minced turkey or 1/2 pound beef, turkey or chicken heart. For all meats, mince them once cooked.
Add 2 tablespoons baby food vegetables. Carrots, celery or potatoes are good choices. Avoid vegetables with onion powder or garlic.
Mix together and feed your cat the homemade cat food twice a day. Try different combinations of meats and vegetables. Three times a week, mix in one hard-boiled egg that has been chopped up or a scrambled egg.
Method Three
Cook 1/4 pound calf's liver and 1 1/2 pounds of ground chuck beef in a skillet until well done. Do not drain the fat off of the meat.
Mix 1 cup of either mashed potatoes or cooked brown rice into the cooked meat.
Add 1 teaspoon canola to the mixture and 1 teaspoon calcium carbonate tablet that is free of phosphorus.
Mix in 2 to 3 ounces of water until the mixture is thoroughly mixed. If your cat refuses the extra water, you can omit this step.
Provide 1/4 to 1/2 pound of homemade food daily for every 10 pounds your cat weighs. Unless your vet instructs you otherwise, you should feed your pet twice a day.
