Things You'll Need
- Blender
- Cookware
- 1 1/2 cups fresh chicken or beef livers
- 1/2 cup cooked rice
- 1/2 cup cooked carrots
- 1/2 cup cooked broccoli
Instructions
Purchase the ingredients you will need to make your homemade cat food, including fresh livers, carrots, rice and broccoli. Use chicken livers if possible, with beef livers as a backup. Store the livers in your refrigerator until you plan to cook them, but for no more than a few days.
Assemble the ingredients, your blender and a frying pan. Put the livers in your pan and cover them with water. Wash your hands thoroughly to avoid cross-contamination of other foods or areas in your kitchen after you handle the raw meat. Heat the water to a boil and cook the livers until they are well done. Remove the livers from the pan, but leave the broth they leave behind after cooking in the pan.
Put the cooked livers into the blender and add the carrots, rice and broccoli. Blend the mixture so that it chops the ingredients into very small pieces. Stop the blender and add two teaspoons of the liver broth from the pan. Blend the ingredients again until the broth and other items have completely mixed.
Serve your homemade liver cat food to your cat promptly. Store leftovers in your refrigerator for no more than a few days. Vary this recipe with other dishes, including small amounts of cooked meat and fish, eggs, dairy products, vegetables and grains and plenty of water, in order to balance out your cat's diet.
