Things You'll Need
- 3 cups whole-wheat flour
- 2 cups soy flour
- 1 cup wheat germ
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup nonfat dry milk
- 1/2 cup brewer's yeast
- Mixing bowls
- 1, 15 oz can mackerel
- 5 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp. cod liver oil
- 2 cups of water
- Rolling pin
- Pizza cutter
- Nonstick spray
- Cookie sheet
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Add all the dry ingredients to a mixing bowl. Combine 3 cups of whole wheat flour, 2 cups of soy flour, 1 cup of wheat germ, 1 cup of cornmeal, 1 cup of nonfat dry milk and ½ cup of brewer̵7;s yeast in the bowl and sift together.
Place the mackerel in another bowl. Break it down into small pieces. Then add the vegetable oil, cod liver oil and water.
Place the mackerel into the dry ingredients. Stir until all the ingredients mix well.
Remove the dough from the bowl with your hands. Use a rolling pin to roll it out to ¼-inch thick.
Cut the dough into ¼-inch pieces or bits with a pizza cutter. Add non-stick spray to a cookie sheet. Place the bits onto the cookie sheet.
Bake the dry cat food for 25 minutes. Stir the cat food every 7 to 10 minutes to ensure that they brown evenly.
Remove the cat food from the oven. Allow them to cool completely on the cookie sheet before removing them. Store the cat food in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you are ready to feed your cat.
