How to Burp Newborn Pups

Sometimes, a mother dog is unable to care for her puppies. When that is the case, you can raise the puppies yourself and feed them with a bottle. However, there are several things that you need to know before getting started, such as how to burp the newborn puppies. Bottle feeding the puppies can result in a buildup of gas in their stomachs that can be uncomfortable. Burp the puppies, much like you would burp a newborn baby, to make the dogs feel better.

     Feed the puppy with his bottle and break when you have given half of the milk.

     Place the puppy up against your shoulder, with his belly against you, much like you would do with a newborn baby.

     Pat the puppy's back firmly but gently. Remember that he is a newborn puppy and can be easily injured. You can also rub the puppy's back firmly if you do not want to pat it.

     Continue doing this until you hear the puppy burp.

     Feed the puppy the rest of his milk; then, burp him again.
