Foods That Make Puppies Grow

It is important to pay proper attention to a puppy's diet. Knowing how much and what kind of food to feed them is important for puppies to grown into healthy dogs. Believe it or not, puppies need just as much food as an adult dog needs to grow. It is what you put into your puppy's body that matters and whether the puppy will eat what you give it.
  1. Homemade Puppy Food

    • Make your own puppy food. Though it may be a time consuming project, it is one way to know what is going inside of your puppy's body. Making homemade puppy food requires you to purchase and prepare meats and vegetables in your home. In addition to homemade puppy food, you will need to feed your puppy vitamins to aid growth. Bone meals may also be necessary to make sure that your puppy gets the proper amount of calcium in its diet.

    Canned Dog Food

    • Canned dog food is generally more expensive than dry dog food. Because canned food is sold in individual portions, the amount of money spent on cans adds up. The cans do provide meats and other sources of nutritional value that is important for your puppy to adequately grow. Not all dogs are fans of moist canned food so introducing it could mean alternating with dry dog food.

    Semi-Moist Dog Food

    • Some dogs do not prefer dry or canned food over the other. To offer both types of food in one will give puppies the nutritional value they need for growth.

    Dry Puppy Food

    • Dry puppy food is convenient and affordable. There is no preparation when it comes to offering your puppy dry food. For busy pet owners, this method of feeding is most suitable especially if preparation of a puppy meal is not feasible. Dog vitamins aren't necessary to offer your puppy when you feed it dry food, especially the premium brands. Though premium is more expensive, the convenience factor may be what fits your lifestyle. Not all puppies are fans of dry food. If the puppy does not eat the dry food, growth can become an issue.
