Instructions
Feed the puppy the formula. The puppy should be resting on its stomach in your lap. When the puppy has consumed half of the formula, stop feeding the puppy to burp it.
Hold the puppy against your shoulder so that its head rests on top and its back faces forward. Hold the puppy in the same manner as you would a baby. Rub or pat the puppy's back to help stimulate burping.
Pat the back up and down or rub the back until the puppy releases the trapped air.
Feed the puppy the rest of the formula. Burp the puppy again after it has finished eating.
How to Rub a Puppy to Stimulate Burping
People feed puppies formula when the mother does not take care of the babies or when they raise orphans. Puppies need to be burped when you feed them formula from a bottle because the air can become trapped inside their stomachs. Relieving the trapped air will help comfort the puppy so that it can enjoy the formula. A puppy needs to be burped gently twice during a feeding to release trapped air.
