How to Qualify for Food From Paw Pals

Paw Pals is an organization located in Quincy, Ill., that works in conjunction with other area shelters to provide pet food to owners and animals in need. The purpose of the pet-food bank is to assist a family with the cost of feeding so it does not have to give up the pet to a shelter. Paw Pals, as well as other pet food banks, require a few conditions before giving away the free food.

Instructions

    • 1

Inform Paw Pals that you have a financial need. This need varies on a case-by-case basis. For example, maybe you are below the U.S. poverty standard for the amount of people in your family. You might have recently lost your job or been diagnosed with an illness that does not allow you to work. Depending on the situation, you may be asked to provide written proof, such as the first page of your tax return, to prove poverty.

Agree that you are not breeding the animal. The purpose of the food is to help an owner who is struggling to feed his own dog. Breeding the dog would only exacerbate the problem.

    • 3

Inform Paw Pals that you are looking to keep the dog. The program is aimed at individuals who want to keep their dog and not give it to another shelter within a short time.
