Things You'll Need
- Knife
- Freezer
- Bowl
Instructions
Cut the wild game meat with a knife into meal size portions based on the weight and nutritional requirements of your dog. Cut the meat so the bones are still in it. This will make your dog work at chewing through the food. Do not serve your dog small bony pieces, such as wings and legs from wild birds.
Check the meat for remaining shot fragments. Remove any fragments in the meat and discard them. Any lead shots left in the meat and consumed by your dog may cause lead poisoning.
Freeze the meat for 24 hours. Freezing the meat kills parasites that may cause harm to your dog.
Place the meat in a bowl. Use the same bowl each time you feed your dog wild game and do not serve other foods from it. Clean the floor around the bowl after each feeding in order to avoid the spread of salmonella and other diseases.
