Instructions
Traditional Cake
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease the bottom of two 9-inch round cake pans with vegetable oil. Sprinkle the pans lightly with flour; this prevents the cake from sticking to the pans.
Combine 2 cups flour and 2 tsp. baking soda in a small bowl and set aside.
Combine 2 cups water, 2 tbsp. honey, 1 egg, 1 tsp. vanilla extract and a small jar of strained carrots baby food.
Add the flour and baking soda to the wet ingredients. Mix the ingredients with a spoon. Fold in 1/2 cup of frozen peas.
Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pans. Cook for 1 hour and 5 minutes or until you can stick a toothpick into the center of the cake and it comes out dry.
Dog Cake Frosting
Fry three pieces of bacon in a frying pan. Place a paper towel on a plate, put the bacon on the plate and let the grease drain.
Combine 12 oz. softened, low-fat cream cheese, 1 tsp. vanilla extract and 1 tsp. honey in large bowl.
Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese frosting on one of the 9-inch round cakes with a spatula. Place the other cake on top and cover the cake layers with the remaining frosting.
Decorate the top of the frosted cake with three strips of crispy bacon. You can lay them flat on the top of the cake in a row or place them in decorative design by placing them across each other.
