Feeding Directions for Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy Food

Large dog breed puppies can grow too quickly, which places strain on their bones and joints. Eukanuba large-breed puppy food is formulated for dogs that are 51 or more pounds at maturity. The amount of food to feed depends on the weight and age of the puppy. The manufacturer recommends that dogs weighing more than 90 pounds at maturity should receive large-breed puppy food up to 24 months.

Instructions

Weigh the puppy to determine how much food it should receive at start. You can find the manufacturer's feeding chart listed under the References section (click on the "Feeding Guidelines" tab). For example, a five-pound puppy that is eight weeks old should receive 1 3/4 cups of food per day, while a 60-pound, four-month-old puppy should get 8 1/4 cups. If you are feeding the puppy twice a day, divide the given amount in half to get the size of each meal.

Weigh the puppy weekly to keep track of the puppy's weight gain and to determine how much food the puppy needs according to the feeding chart. Adjust the amount of food based on the age, activity and temperament of the dog. An energetic puppy will need more food than a lazier puppy.

Feed the puppy using a stainless steel, tip-proof bowl. Stainless steel is easy to wash, resists being chewed and doesn't hold bacteria.

Provide fresh, clean water to the puppy at all times using a separate bowl.
