An important part of a dog's diet is the carbohydrate source. An easy-to-prepare carbohydrate is pressed barley. Regular barley can be used, but pressed barley saves preparation time.
- 1 cup pressed barley
- 2 1/2 cups water or low-fat broth

Pour 1 cup of pressed barley into small pot.

Add 2 1/2 cups of water or low-fat broth and stir the mixture.

Turn the stove temperature to medium. Bring it to a boil, stirring it occasionally.
