How to Feed a Boxer Mastiff

Feeding a large boxer mastiff is a big responsibility on the part of an owner. Check with your veterinarian to make sure you feed your dog the appropriate dog food brand and an amount to best suit your dog's specific needs. Establishing a consistent feeding routine is key to keeping your boxer mastiff well-fed and healthy. By following the guidelines regarding your dog's weight and breed, you can relax knowing that you are feeding your pooch appropriately.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the type of dog food to feed your boxer mastiff. Make the choice with the help of your veterinarian, who can advise you on which brand is best and if you should use dry or wet food.

    • 2

Feed your boxer mastiff three to four times daily if your dog is between six and eight weeks old. You should not get your dog before then, as it needs nutrition from its mother. Follow the directions on the bag of food you have selected for the correct feeding amount.

    • 3

Feed your dog twice daily after he has reached the age of eight weeks. This should continue for the remainder of your dog's life unless your veterinarian suggests a change. Schedule breakfast and lunch feedings, unless your schedule requires you to do otherwise. Feed your dog at the same times each day.

Feed your dog five to eight cups of dry food twice daily once your boxer mastiff has reached 75 pounds or more. Your other option is to mix your dog two cans of wet food with 2.5 to 5.25 cups of dry food twice daily.
