Royal Canin Maxi Ingredients

The Royal Canin line of Maxi dog foods are formulated for dogs that as adults will weigh 56 to 100 pounds. The formulas, developed by staff veterinarians and nutritionists, are for puppies, adult dogs, senior dogs, overweight dogs and those who need joint or coat support. Ingredients vary slightly per product based on Royal Canin's product ingredient lists. The double digits contained in each formula's name is the amount of protein in the food.
  1. Maxi Babydog 30

    • The Maxi "Babydog" formula consists of tiny soft kibbles with ingredients deemed essential for large-breed puppies under the age of 5 months. The main ingredients are chicken meal, rice, brown rice, corn gluten meal, dried egg, natural chicken flavor, chicken, beet pulp processed to remove sugar, anchovy oil and dried brewers yeast. Other ingredients include vitamins and trace mineral supplements along with natural preservatives vitamin E, citric acid and rosemary extract. Babydog contains high EPA and DHA levels, high amounts of mannan-oligosaccharides, Vitamins E &C, taurine and lutein all to support early puppy development. Babydog 30 has 30 percent protein and 22 percent fat.

    Maxi Large Breed Puppy 32

    • Puppies from 5 to 15 months of age, eat a slightly different hard kibbled food. According to Royal Canin, this formula provides energy appropriate for a consistent growth rate. Chicken fat has been added as one of the top five ingredients, closely followed by barley and wheat gluten. Trace minerals, vitamins and natural preservatives are included in similar amounts still vital to the support of a young pup's developmental needs. Puppy 32 is 32 percent protein and 14 percent fat.

    Maxi Large Breed Adult

    • Maxi's adult formula offers a larger, hard kibble and fewer calories for dogs ages 15 months to 5 years. This is the only formula without a protein designator in its name. Protein in this formula is 25 percent with a 16 percent fat content. Amounts of vitamins and trace minerals have been lowered to levels appropriate for a fully grown dog. Whole chicken, wheat gluten and anchovy oil are removed. Oatmeal and rice hulls are added. The first four ingredients remain unchanged from the puppy formulas.

    Maxi Aging Care 26

    • At 26 percent protein and 17 percent fat, "Aging Care" is for dogs over the age of 5 years. Kibbles are larger to aid with dental care, and the first four ingredients remain unchanged. Anchovy oil is once again in the ingredient list and soya oil, glucosamine hydrochloride and green tea have been added.

    Maxi Joint and Coat Care 28

    • Another formula made for adult dogs, this one is formulated to support aging joints and a healthy coat. As indicated by the title, protein is 28 percent and fat is 18 percent. Keeping the first four ingredients the same, this food adds additional elements key to joint and coat support. Chicken and anchovy oil are included and essential fish oils, fatty acids and glucosamine chondroitin have been increased.

    Maxi Weight Care 27

    • Weight care has 27 percent protein, fewer calories, decreased fat content of 13 percent and increased high fiber to aid in adult dog weight loss. Glucosamine, chondroitin and anchovy oil stay in the formula to supplement heart and joint health. Weight care varies from other formulas. Top ingredients are geared for weight loss. Chicken meal, corn gluten meal, oatmeal, brown rice, barley, rice hulls and pea fiber lead the ingredient list.
