How to Mount Dog Bowls

Dogs can have a habit of playing with their food and water bowls, or pushing them around as they eat and drink. A moving dog dish can lead to a large mess. Mounting your dog bowls on a stable surface will prevent your pets from pushing them around and sloshing food or water on your floor. The process involves common objects, most of which you can probably find around your home.

Things You'll Need

  • Milk crate or other small wooden crate
  • Cinder block
  • 2 screws
  • 2 nuts
  • Screwdriver
  • 2 plastic dog bowls
  • Circular saw
  • Clean cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Place the milk crate on your work surface. Use a smaller wooden crate if your dog can't reach the top of a milk crate, or cut the milk crate down to size with a circular saw. Place the two plastic dog bowls on top of the milk crate in the center.

Screw the plastic dog bowls into place with the screwdriver. Drive the screw directly through the middle of the bottom of each dog bowl.

    • 3

Turn the milk crate over and thread the two nuts onto the ends of the screws that you drilled through the dog bowls. This will keep the bowls in place. Turn the crate back over and wipe the dog bowls down with a clean cloth to remove any plastic shards.

Place the cinder block in the spot where your dog normally eats. You can set it on a sheet to protect your floor, or use any other heavy object such as a stack of books or a large bag of rice. Lower the milk crate over the cinder block. Lift one edge of the milk crate and push the cinder block against the far edge of the milk crate. Lower the crate all the way.

Fill the bowls with food and water.
