How To Make a Dog Feeder

If you're away for most of the day or have a dog that's constantly begging for its food bowl to be filled, an automatic feeder is just what you need. Store-bought automatic feeders can be costly to purchase. Luckily, with a few simple things you have around your house, you can make a feeder of your own that will automatically dispense more food for your dog as it continues to eat.

Things You'll Need

  • Scissors
  • Empty 2-liter bottle
  • Flat tray no deeper than 2 inches and no wider than the 2-liter bottle

Instructions

    • 1

Wash out the 2-liter bottle and remove any plastic labeling. Make a diagonal cut in the top of the bottle, leaving a 1-inch slit near the top.

    • 2

Fill the bottle with dog food, taking care not to fill it past the opening you have just cut.

    • 3

Turn the 2-liter bottle upside down into the tray. The food will pour out, forming a pile that will support the bottle in this position.
