How to Make a Gizzard Dog Treat

Making your own homemade dog treats out of leftover gizzards can be a fun family activity. Baking your own dog treats can also be healthier for your pet and easier on your wallet. Commercial dog biscuits are full of MSG, artificial preservatives, fat and extra calories. They also can cost up to $5 a box. A lot of people think baking your own dog treats is difficult and time-consuming. In reality, it is as simple as baking a sheet of cookies.

  • 2 cloves garlic

    • 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. While your oven is preheating, sift together the flour and yeast.

    • 2

Take the gizzards, garlic, cheese and parsley and mix them together in a separate bowl.

Beat the eggs in a bowl and mix them together with the gizzard mixture. Add the flour mixture and sift until the batter is mixed thoroughly.

    • 4

Roll out the dough on a floured surface so that it is about 1/4-inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and then place the dog treats on an ungreased cookie pan.

Place the cookie pan in the oven and let the dog treats cook until golden brown. Remove and cool on a wire baking rack before serving.
