How to Feed a Dog an Apple

Keeping your dog on a healthy, balanced diet that includes the occasional treat can be difficult. Apples are one such treat you can feel good about feeding to your dog. However, you must be mindful that apple seeds and cores contain toxins that can harm your dog if ingested often and in large amounts. You can use just about any kitchen knife to prepare the apple and safely feed it to your dog.

    • 1

Cut the apple in to quarters lengthwise. Cut down the middle of the apple from top to bottom so you have lengthwise halves. Cut down the middle of each half so you have lengthwise quarters.

    • 2

Cut the apple's core off of each quartered slice. Make a semicircular incision around the hardened area that contains the apple's seeds.
