Premium Dry Food
-
Feed your toy Yorkies a small meal three times a day. Two of those three times, give them a top-of-the-line dry food. Read the ingredients of prospective dry food brands to determine which are premium and which are not. Check that they are USDA inspected and not packed with a lot of fillers, such as corn. Ask your vet for a recommendation.
Milk Bones
-
Milk bones, or a comparable product, are a healthy treat for your dog. Such treats come fortified with vitamins and minerals and promote cleaner teeth and fresher breath. This is particularly useful for Yorkies, as this breed easily develops dental problems. If you give a Yorkie such a treat, then it counts as one of its three meals. Milk Bones and their equivalent come in three sizes; always buy small ones for Yorkies.
Cooked Vegetables
-
The diet for any toy Yorkie is going to be slightly different, tailored to that dog's individual sensibilities. Thus, if your dog seems hungry after a meal, or if you'd like to try something new, give your dog two or three bites of cooked vegetables, such a green beans or carrots. You can even give your Yorkie a spoonful of canned pumpkin, as long as it's the unsweetened variety.

The Best Things to Feed My Toy Yorkies
The toy Yorkshire terrier is an intelligent, quick-witted dog, with an inquisitive mind who often likes to be pampered. As with any dog, you want to give it the best diet possible, for its overall health and development. Hypoglycemia is a possible result of poor diet, so you must do everything you can from the start to prevent that from happening.
