How to Make Your Own Dog Food With Raw Meat, Carrots & Potatoes

By making your own dog food out of meat, carrots and potatoes, you can give your pooch a healthier and tastier meal and save money in the process. According to veterinarian Dr. Pitcairn, an improved level of health was observed in dogs that were fed raw meat, possibly because it is their natural ancestral food. Vegetables like carrots and potatoes are especially well-liked by dogs, according to Pitcairn, and offer high amounts of vitamins and carbohydrates.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a bag of potatoes, a bag of carrots and good quality lean chuck. If possible, purchase grass-fed beef, as it contains higher amounts of healthy omega-3 fats.

    • 2

Slice the potatoes into bite-sized pieces and boil them for 20 minutes.

    • 3

Grate the carrots into the large bowl. One or two carrots per dog should do.

    • 4

Add raw meat to the carrots, about half a pound for a 50-pound dog. Mix the meat and carrots together.

    • 5

Add the boiled potatoes to the bowl and stir everything together. Then call Fido to dinner.
