Homemade Peanut Butter Treats for Dogs

Peanut butter is generally one of a dog's favorite foods and is often one of the main ingredients in commercial dog treats. Homemade peanut butter treats for dogs are easy to make and often healthier than store-bought dog treats because they do not contain any added fillers or chemicals. You can make your own homemade peanut butter treats for dogs at home using ingredients that you probably already have on hand.
  1. Peanut Butter Poppers

    • These simple peanut butter popper dog treats only have four ingredients. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Combine 1 tbsp. of baking powder with 2 cups of whole wheat flour. Set aside. Mix 1 cup of peanut butter with 1 cup of milk and pour the mixture into the dry ingredient bowl. Stir thoroughly. Lightly flour a wooden cutting board or other flat surface. Place the dough on the board and knead for two to three minutes. Roll the dough out to ¼ inches thick then use a cookie cutter to cut the dough into small shapes. Place dough on a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until the poppers are lightly browned around the edges. Cool and then store in plastic bags or an airtight container.

    Peanut Butter Biscuits

    • These peanut butter dog biscuits call for ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Combine ½ cup each of oil and water with two eggs, 2 tsp. of vanilla and 3 tbsp. of peanut butter. Blend on low speed. Combine ½ cup each of plain oatmeal and cornmeal with 2 cups of flour. Stir thoroughly. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix into a dough. Roll out the dough into ¼ inches thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes or cut the dough into squares. Bake for 20 minutes. Turn off your oven and let the biscuits cool in the oven until they are hard and crisp. Store in Ziploc bags or an airtight container.

    Frozen PB &Yogurt

    • These dog treats are refreshing on those long, hot summer days. Microwave 1 cup of peanut butter until melted. Add one large container of vanilla yogurt. Stir thoroughly and pour the mixture into cupcake papers. Freeze for one to two hours before serving.

    Peanut Butter Cookies

    • These homemade peanut butter cookies can be enjoyed by you and your pet. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Combine 3 cups of whole wheat flour, 2 tsp. of baking powder and ½ cup of plain oatmeal. Set aside. Mix 1 ¼ cup of peanut butter, 1 tbsp. of molasses and 1 ½ cups of milk in a separate bowl. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and form into a ball. Knead the dough with your hands for two to three minutes. Roll the dough out to ¼ inches thick and cut into squares or use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Bake for 20 minutes, then turn off the oven and let the cookies cool in the oven. Store in Ziploc bags or an airtight container.
