How to Cook Pork Rinds for Dogs

Many people feed their dogs the same food that they eat, but this can make dogs unhealthy and overweight. There are types of human food that dogs can eat, though, without it affecting them negatively, such as pork rinds. As long as you regulate the salt put on the pork, they will be a tasty snack for your dog. You could even add ground up dog vitamins to sprinkle on the pork rinds.

Instructions

    • 1

You can use pork skin scraps for a dish you prepared, or you can buy some from your local supermarket. Depending on how much you want to make, you can prepare a handful of pork rinds or an entire baking sheet; do an entire baking sheet if you are preparing a large amount of snacks to keep stored.

    • 2

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Lay the pork skins on a Pam-greased baking sheet, spread out so they are not overlapping.

    • 3

Sprinkle the pork skins with salt. Do not over-salt them because too much salt can be bad for your dog.

    • 4

Grind up dog vitamins or other nutrients and sprinkle these grains over the pork rinds as well, if desired. You can create a tasty treat for your dog that is nutritious, too.

Cook the pork rinds for three hours. When you remove them from the oven, they should be crispy. Let them sit for five minutes before stacking them in a storage bag or container.
