Maintenance is a breeze when it comes to stainless steel dog bowls. You just have to sanitize them regularly to keep them looking new and nice.
Things You'll Need
- Warm water
- Dishwashing scrub
- Fine steel wool pad
- Heavy steel wool pad
- Mildly abrasive cleanser
- Dishwashing soap
- Dry cloth or paper towel
Instructions
Start by removing any food residue from the bowl after your dog has finished eating or drinking from it. Rinse the stainless steel dog bowl with warm water until it is completely wet.
Pour a drop or two of dishwashing soap onto the sponge and scrub the bowl with it. Make sure to remove any stain or food particle that may have been left on the surface. Start with the inner portion of the bowl working your way to the outer part.
Rinse the stainless steel dog bowl with cold water. Make sure that you remove all the soap from it. It's also important to check if any food smell is left on the bowl. If you can still smell traces of dog food, it's best to give the scrubbing another go. Clean the bowl with dishwashing soap again until the odor is gone.
After washing the bowl, give it a good scrub using your mildly abrasive cleanser and a fine steel wool pad. It's important to scrub in the direction of the metal's grain so you don't leave scratches on the bow. Scrubbing strokes should go around the bowl.
After scrubbing the bowl, rinse it again and apply more cleanser. This time use heavy steel wool and scrub in the same direction as you did using the fine steel wool pad. After going around the bowl and inside it with the scrubber, rinse the bowl again.
Give the bowl another scrub using the fine steel wool pad and rinse it one last time. Dry the bowl using a clean, dry cloth or with the use of paper towels. After that, fill the bowl with clean and cool water and set it aside until your dog's next meal.
