Things You'll Need
- Rice
- 1 lb. lean meat
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 cup vegetables
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp. flax seed oil
- 1/2 tsp. yeast
Instructions
Pick the meat. Find lean meat such as beef or chicken. You can even purchase chicken breast with the bone still present for a much cheaper product. Separate the meat from the bones and chop it into cubes for cooking.
Select the vegetables. Your furry friend can eat almost anything you can. However, while dogs are omnivores, they can have issues with large amounts of greenery. Choose grated carrots or mixed vegetables. To cut costs, you can always use frozen vegetables, which still have the nutrients in place but at a better price than fresh picks.
Add in a multi-vitamin. A great and inexpensive way to ensure a dog's food is good and healthy is to throw in a multi-vitamin with the mixture. You can grind several up into powder and sprinkle within the food mixture.
Combine and mix the ingredients. Make sure they are properly and equally distributed, especially the rice and the yeast. Mix them in a large glass mixing bowl (the glass will be easier to clean). Add water and cook the mixture in a skillet over medium heat. Cook approximately 15 minutes until the lean meat is done.
Separate the cooked food into 1 cup portions and freeze for future usage. Store in plastic baggies with no air to help preserve the quality.
