How to Make a Doggie Birthday Cake

Your dog can't keep track of his birthdays, but you can. Not only that, you can celebrate your pet's big day with his very own doggie birthday cake. Don't worry, there's no sugar involved, only wholesome and healthy ingredients for your canine.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 3 mixing bowls (2 large, 1 small)
  • 1/2 cup softened margarine
  • 5 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 jars strained beef baby food
  • 2 cups carrots, shredded finely
  • 2 round cake pans, greased and floured
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 small container plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Piece of cardboard or serving tray

      Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

      Mix 3 cups of all purpose flour and 1 tbsp. of baking powder in a large mixing bowl.

      Combine 1/2 cup of softened margarine, 5 large eggs and 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in a separate mixing bowl, and stir until the mixture is smooth.

      Stir in the 2 jars of strained beef baby food and 2 cups of finely shredded carrots and mix well. Add the flour mixture and continue to stir until the mixture is combined.

      Spread the batter in the greased and floured cake pans and bake the doggie birthday cake for 1 hour. Remove the cakes from the pans and allow them to cool on wire racks.

      Make the doggie cake frosting. Place 8 oz. of cream cheese and 1 small container of yogurt in a small mixing bowl and mix well. Blend in 1 tsp. of honey and 1 tsp. of vanilla.

      Place one cake layer on a piece of cardboard or serving tray, and spread frosting over the top. Place the second cake over the first, and spread frosting on the entire cake.
