How to Make Healthy Dog Ice Cream

Although people often make the mistake of feeding dogs treats that are expensive imitations of people food, there's no question that dogs just love frozen treats. The "dog ice cream cups" you find in the store are very expensive, so you may find it more economical to treat your dogs with a homemade version. Don't make the mistake of adding sugar to your dog's frozen treat-- it's not good for him and not necessary. Dogs have difficulty digesting dairy products, so use yogurt with active cultures for the health of your dog's digestive tract, and you'll be rewarded with a healthier as well as happier dog.

    • 1

Put the yogurt in a bowl and stir until creamy.

    • 2

Add peanut butter and stir until well-incorporated.

    • 3

Put bits of bananas, peas or pineapple on the bottom of the containers, if desired. Choose containers that are the size you want for your treats. Do not fill the containers -- two inches or so of the frozen treats will be plenty.

    • 4

Freeze 3 hours or overnight in the freezer or freezer section of your refrigerator.

    • 5

To serve, run container under warm water and loosen the frozen yogurt - peanut butter mixture. Pop out. Serve in your dog's dish, but best to put outside because it most likely won't remain in the bowl and will make a mess as it melts.
