Instructions
Try hanging fly traps and fly paper around your pet's food. However, the traps and fly paper need to be away from your dog so your dog doesn't try to eat the trap or fly paper.
Pick up your dog's food bowl after your dog's done eating, no matter how much food is left in it. Most vets recommend that you don't leave dog food sitting in a bowl anyway, to prevent your dog from eating too much. Clean the food bowl and put it into a fly-free area until you need it again.
Clean up any random bits of food that falls out of your pet's bowl. Also make sure there's no other bits of food around your dog's eating area that's attracting flies.
Control your garbage. Flies tend to breed in garbage. Wrap your garbage before putting it outside and don't feed your dog around your garbage cans.
Walk around and pick up any fecal material from your dog. Not only will this cut down on the flies, but it'll cut down on other parasites too.
Place basil plants around your dog's food bowls. Some experts say basil repels flies.
