Instructions

  1. Assembling the Ingredients

    • 1

Purchase 1 pound of ground or chopped meat such as turkey, chicken, beef or beef heart. Buy lean or medium grades of meat.

    • 2

Decide what type of grain to use. Oats are a good choice since they are high in protein, but you may also use bulgur, brown rice, cornmeal or barley.

    • 3

Pick out some vegetables to add to the mix. Corn, peas, green beans, broccoli and carrots are all good choices. You could also add in a little canned pumpkin, chopped apple or some blueberries just to liven things up.

    • 4

Crush or mince 1 to 2 cloves of garlic and mix with 2 tbsp. of vegetable or olive oil.

    Cooking the Meal

    • 5

Brown the meat in a skillet. Set aside and allow to cool.

    • 6

    • 7

Steam or boil the vegetables. Set aside and allow to cool.

    • 8

Store any unused portions in the refrigerator for no more than 3 days or in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
