How to Make Simple Dog Biscuits

Dog treats are a great way to show your dog you care. You can also use them as positive reinforcement during training sessions to encourage specific behaviors from your dog. Dogs respond well to rewards from their owners, especially tasty ones. Instead of buying dog treats from the store, you can make your own dog biscuits at home with just a few ingredients.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the oven and preheat it at 400 degrees.

    • 2

Cover a baking sheet with a light coating of vegetable shortening or baking spray.

    • 3

Mix 1/2 cup cornmeal, 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup all-purpose flour together in a large bowl.

    • 4

Mix in two eggs, 3 tbsp. peanut butter, 2 tsp. vanilla extract, 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup canola oil a little at a time, and stir the batter until it is entirely mixed.

    • 5

Use a teaspoon to grab some of the dough. Place the dough in your palm, and press down on it with the teaspoon to flatten it out. These will make smaller biscuits. If you prefer, you can make biscuits that are larger, but you should cook them for eight to 10 minutes longer than small biscuits.

    • 6

Put the flattened biscuit on the baking sheet. Bake for eight to 10 minutes for small biscuits or 16 to 20 minutes for larger biscuits.

    • 7

Turn off the oven when the biscuits are finished. Leave them in the oven for another 20 to 25 minutes so they can harden.
