Why is milk not healthy for cats?

Cats are obligate carnivores, which means that they have a biological requirement to eat meat in order to survive. Their bodies are designed to digest and utilize the nutrients found in animal tissues, and they are not able to properly process many of the nutrients found in plant-based foods.

Milk is a dairy product that is produced by mammals for their young. It is high in protein, fat, and carbohydrates, and it also contains a variety of vitamins and minerals. However, cats are not able to properly digest the lactose, which is the sugar found in milk. This can lead to a variety of digestive problems, including diarrhea, gas, and vomiting.

In addition to the digestive problems that it can cause, milk is also not a good source of nutrition for cats. Cats need to eat meat in order to get the essential amino acids that they need for growth and development. Milk does not contain these essential amino acids, so it is not a complete diet for cats.

For these reasons, it is generally not recommended to feed milk to cats. If you do choose to give your cat milk, it is important to do so in moderation and to make sure that the milk is lactose-free.
