How to Keep Birds Out of Cat Food

Outdoor cats can be beneficial in many ways; when you leave home, they are independent enough to fend for themselves. But cats that also eat outside can face a few challenges for clear possession of their food. Many birds enjoy eating cat food and will swoop down to grab a few nibbles. Several options are available to the cat owner to get rid of the winged pests.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the cat food inside, away from any birds. You can put the food dishes on place mats to ensure the contents don't make the floor messy.

    • 2

Cut 2 feet of string. Place it through a CD and then tie it off. Hang the CD near the cat food. The birds will be deterred, but your cat will cope with the distraction.

    • 3

Set up a decoy that can detect movement and make noise and move when a bird is around. Your cats may know it isn't real, but birds will be scared.
