How to Get Kittens to Eat Kitten Chow

After a few weeks of drinking their mother's milk, it is time for kittens to move onto a crunchier means of nutrition: kitten chow. They can begin eating kitten chow at about five to six weeks. Coaxing kittens from the milk of their mother to a bowl of food can be challenging at first. But if you follow some tips, your kittens will be eating kitten chow before you know it.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase chow that is specifically designed to meet the nutritional needs of kittens.

    • 2

Pour the kitten chow into a low-sided bowl or a flat pan so that the kittens can reach the food.

    • 3

Moisten the kitten chow by mixing it with water or commercial milk replacer. This makes the food more appealing to milk-loving kittens, and it's also easier for the kittens to consume.

    • 4

Gradually reduce the amount of water or milk replacer added to the kitten chow. This will gradually make the kitten chow less moist.

    • 5

      Serve only kitten chow.
