What does Marsupial mammal mean?

Marsupial mammals are those that carry their young in a pouch, called a marsupium.

The young are born in a very immature state and continue to develop in the pouch, attached to a teat from which they get nourishment.

Marsupials are native to Australia but are also found in parts of the Americas.

Some well-known marsupials include kangaroos, wallabies, and Tasmanian devils.
