Can cats tell when upset?
Cats may recognize human sadness, although not in the same way as humans do. Cats are believed to be able to sense changes in their owner's emotional state through body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. If someone expresses sadness through physical signals or low-pitched, gentle tones, a cat may exhibit behaviors like increased attentiveness, rubbing, purring, or cuddling to provide emotional support. However, the level of understanding and response can vary depending on the individual cat's personality and bond with its owner.
