How to Get Rid of Stray Cats and Kittens Under a Porch

Stray cats and kittens are usually feral cats that have never had an owner, animals that have gotten lost or pets that have been abandoned by their previous owners. Stray cats and kittens under the porch can be a noise nuisance, and porch owners can become annoyed by the smell of urination and feces around the porch. In addition, feral cats will pose a threat to wild birds in yards with bird feeders. Getting rid of stray cats can be difficult at times because the cats and kittens are typically scared of humans.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any animal food or human food away from the porch. Cats are attracted to food that is left out for your pets or leftovers from last night's meal. Eliminate the source of food, and the cats and kittens will look for another source of food.

    • 2

Take away garbage and any pet bowls with water in them. Garbage can attract stray cats and kittens because of the smells and the possibility of food. Pet bowls with water give the cats a source of water.

    • 3

Trap the cats using metal traps bated with food. Place the cat food in the trap and place the trap next to a section of the porch that the cats and kittens are living under. Allow the animal or animals to enter the trap and bring any you catch to a local shelter. If necessary, set the trap several times so you can get all the cats and kittens living under your porch.
