Instructions
Get a sturdy, comfortable crate for your cat to stay in while inside the pop-up camper. When people are walking in and out of the camper, you need to have a place your cat can go to be safe and not get outside.
Put your cat inside a well-built cat carrier that gives the cat lots of room to move while traveling in your vehicle. The carrier needs to be buckled in place.
Offer your cat food, water and the litter box at every stop. Let the cat get out of the carrier, but never open the doors at this time. Your cat could easily run out and get lost while traveling.
Bring along plenty of supplies for your cat, including jugs of water, food and litter. Favorite toys and beddings might also be appreciated.
Have your cat's medical records, including a letter from your vet stating the cat is in perfect health to travel, at all times.
Train your cat to walk on a leash. Never let your cat wander outside while on a trip. If you want to let the cat outdoors, leash training is the best way to go.
How to Take a Cat in a Pop-Up Camper
When you decide to travel across the country in your pop-up camper, it might be too unbearable or not even possible to leave your cat at home. Even if you can leave the cat behind, your pet shouldn't have to miss all the fun and excitement of the open road. To make sure your cat is well taken care of inside your pop-up camper and stays safe through the trip, you will need to do some careful planning before you head out on your journey.
