Instructions
Set a trap in a place where you frequently see the kittens. Only trap kittens if you have not seen the mother in the area. The trap should have food in it to entice the kittens.
Handle the kittens with leather gloves. Wild kittens will bite and scratch to defend themselves. Move the kittens to a cage containing a litter box, food, water and a few soft blankets.
Feed the kittens a little wet food from your hand if they seem friendly. If not, stick a spoon through the bars of the cage with a little food on it. This will help get the kittens used to you.
Take the kittens to a veterinarian. Most wild kittens have worms, and many have respiratory infections. Be prepared to pay for medications for both of these, as well as routine kitten vaccinations. According to Spay and Neuter Syracuse, kittens must be at least 14 weeks and 4 pounds to be spayed or neutered. You may want to schedule the surgery at their first visit.
Keep the kittens in their cage most of the time until they are tame. Handle them wrapped in a towel until they seem comfortable being held.
Expose them to other people so they are well socialized. Find them new homes as soon as they are used to being handled by people. Wild kittens usually bond best to one person.
