Things You'll Need
- River pebbles
- Herb seeds
- Citrus peels
- Hose
- Tea leaves
Instructions
Scatter smooth, heavy river pebbles anywhere that there is loose dirt in your garden. Cats prefer to scratch at loose dirt, and these heavy stones prevent them from doing so.
Grow rue, geranium or lavender on your property. These strong-smelling herbs are unpleasant to cats and keep them away.
Scatter citrus peels anywhere you see cats. Citrus has a strong, astringent odor that displeases cats and drives them away.
Spray any cats you see with the hose to drive them away. Alternately, set up a sprinkler with a motion detector to spray any cats that come on your property.
Spread used tea leaves around in the areas where the cats go. The tannin is good for the soil and the smell keeps the cats away. Be careful putting the tea leaves near delicate plants, as tea leaves may be too acidic for them.
