How to Keep Cats out of the School Yard Playground

While many children like cats, it is probably a good idea to keep the animals out of a school yard playground. Some children may play to roughly with a cat and get scratched or bitten. Other children may be allergic to cats. Also, cats may use the playground as a litter box, leaving the children exposed to bacteria and other germs that may be contagious. But there are cat repellents that keep cats at bay without the use of toxic chemicals and without harming cats or children.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a spray bottle with equal parts water and white distilled vinegar.

    • 2

Shake the bottle to mix the two ingredients.

    • 3

Spray the solution all around the perimeter of the playground. Spray the fence or gates or the ground. You also can spray any toys in the playground, like the seesaw or swings. Cats have highly sensitive noses and vinegar is one smell they don't like.

Respray the areas frequently, about every four to five days, because the solution will evaporate.
