Things You'll Need
- Cat toys
- Cat treats
Instructions
Earn your cat's trust. Cats know if you have honorable intentions. Be sincere. If you want to put kitty in a crate or take her to the vet, she will know. Your cat can feel stress and anxiety. Sit down and watch your kitty. Chances are excellent that she's been watching you.
Make occasional eye contact and move slowly. Let the cat come to you. A lovely fishy treat can help accomplish this. When kitty accepts your physical presence, enhance her experience. Rub her head and pet her back using long strokes. Don't stop until you hear her purr. You will know you've been accepted when kitty settles near you for a cozy nap.
Become your cat's favorite toy. Cats are, by nature, hunters. They love to stalk, pounce, chase and attack. Roll a cat toy across the floor; dangle feathers from a string; bounce a small ball. Make certain that your actions become the most important part of the game.
Make your cat's environment interesting. Boxes, blankets and scratching posts make kitty happy.
