Cat Beds Made From PVC Pipes

Cats spend a lot of their day sleeping and like to curl up in some unusual places. They especially favor sleeping on elevated surfaces where they can feel a bit safer. Making your cat its own bed not only allows you to choose the colors to match your decor but will invite your pet to sleep in a spot that you prefer. PVC frames provide flexibility in design and create lightweight cat furniture that's easy to move about the house.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut four pieces of 1-inch PVC pipe to 18 inches using the pipe cutter and measuring stick.

    • 2

Cut four pieces of 1-inch PVC pipe to 1-foot lengths.

    • 3

Assemble the frame. Insert the 18-inch PVC pieces into the PVC connector to form a square with the third, empty connector facing the same direction on all four corners. Insert the short pieces into the last opening of the PVC connectors to create the legs.

    • 4

Cut a 22-inch piece of fabric with a pair of scissors.

    • 5

Lay the fabric out on the floor right side facing down. Place the stand upside down on the fabric matching the corners.

    • 6

Fold each corner of the fabric over and tuck it under the PVC stand so that the material doesn't cover the corner connector.

    • 7

Fold the edge of the fabric over twice on one side of the frame, 1-inch each time. Wrap the cloth over the PVC pipe.

    • 8

Screw through both layers of fabric, and into the PVC pipe securing the cloth. Start in the center on one side, and work to either side, adding more screws every few inches to secure the cloth.

    • 9

Move to the opposite side, and fold the edges under twice. Pull the fabric tight and screw the fabric to the PVC pipe. Trim the fabric prior to screwing to the PVC if needed.

    • 10

Repeat for the other two sides.
