Natural Homemade Cat Repellent

Few things are more annoying than discovering a nuisance cat destroying your property. Cats are territorial and can wreak havoc on your garden and home with their incessant clawing and spraying of objects. According to Jeff Schalau of the Arizona Cooperative Extension, you can repel cats by using repellents like citrus peels, cayenne chili powder, raw onions and vinegar, as they rely on a cat's keen sense of smell and aversion to these particular odors.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a knife to slice the chili pepper, raw onion and orange peels into tiny pieces and place them into the spray bottle.

    • 2

Add a drop or two of vinegar into the spray bottle. Cats dislike the strong odor prevalent in vinegar.

    • 3

Add 1 cup of water to the mix and shake well. Let the solution sit for a few minutes afterward to allow the juices to blend together well.

    • 4

Spray the repellent in areas where the cat is most active. Re-spray the natural homemade cat repellent on a regular basis and after every rainy day to ensure lasting success.
