The cat mansion should be large and luxurious.

Purchase a large cat crate or cage. The size of cage depends upon the size of your cat. The cat should have plenty of room to stretch, sleep and play. Make sure to get a cage large enough so the cat can bat a toy from one end to the other.

Balls and other rolling cat toys keep a cat entertained for hours.

Introduce cat toys made specifically for cats into your cat's cage. Don't overwhelm it with toys; you will want to save some to switch out later. Cat toys include stuffed mice, wind-up or moving toys and toys that dangle from the roof of the cage with feathers or bells. Small balls and rolling items will entertain your cat, as well. Any toy rubbed in catnip will become an instant favorite.

A feather can mesmerize a cat.

Fascinate your cat with "human" toys or household items, such as feathers, empty toilet paper rolls, tissue paper or bottle caps. According to Cat World, readily available household products such as these can be terrific toys and very entertaining.

A handheld laser pointer with various lights or colors will amuse you and your cat.

Play with your cat using a laser pointer or a kitty tease stick, which usually has a feather on the end of a long stick. Either of these can entertain your cat and will involve you in the stimulation.

Television can soothe and fascinate your cat.

Position your cat's cage in front of the television set. According to the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, cats need inactive entertainment as much as humans do. Light, color and sound can be entertaining for a cat and can provide a break from the play activities.
