How to Clean Cat Urine From Carpet & Floor

Cats can serve as the perfect companion. After all, they love to sit on your lap, knead with their paws and provide plenty of entertainment. All cuteness aside, felines have a potent-smelling urine that, when released onto carpet, is difficult to remove. The odor is extreme because of protein in the urine that is resistant to most cleaners. Fortunately, you can remove cat urine from your carpet with a few household items.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a towel over the urine immediately after your cat has relieved itself.

    • 2

Press down lightly and soak up as much of the urine as possible. Refrain from rubbing, as this pushes the urine deeper into the carpet. Instead, try to absorb by blotting.

    • 3

Use a spray bottle to spray the area with clean water.

    • 4

Spread baking soda on top of the now-dampened spot and wait for it to dry completely. Then, vacuum up the baking soda.

    • 5

Repeat this process as many times as necessary.
