The use of flower essences for emotions and stress, pioneered by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s, is a well documented practice in the field of natural wellness.
Things You'll Need
- 1 bottle of Dr. Bach's Rescue Remedy
- 1 bottle of Dr. Bach's Mimulus
- 1 bottle of Dr. Bach's Walnut
Instructions
Make your cat very relaxed and calm for five days before starting it on the collar by giving it Dr. Bach's flower essence remedies.
Make a mixture of the Bach flower essences in a brown 30cc bottle with dropper.
Give the Bach flower essence mixture in fresh water. Change the cat´s water every morning and evening. Add four drops of your Bach flower essence mixture to the water every time you change it. Also, give your cat a treat with four more drops of the mixture twice a day.
Put the collar on your cat using the gradual approach. Take your cat in your arms, pet it for a while, talking softly, then put the collar on it and say encouraging words like: "Look how beautiful you are with your new collar!"
Take the collar off immediately if your cat rebels against it strongly, with loud meowing or just with very nervous movements. Do it in a very soft, relaxed manner. Calm your cat down with soothing words. Wait for two weeks, continue giving the flower essence mixture and then try again as in Step 4. Your cat will get used to the collar and eventually will accept it.
Animals have emotions, likes and dislikes. The flower remedies can help your cat cope with them.
According to the Bach Center, founded by Dr. Edward Bach: "Bach remedies can help your animals in exactly the same way they help you and the rest of your family."
Fill the bottle with tap water or mineral water, leaving 1/10 empty for the flower essence drops.
Add:
4 drops of Rescue Remedy
2 drops of Walnut
2 drops of Mimulus
The effectiveness of the flower essences has been documented by the experience of practitioners of natural wellness. Some scientific studies acknowledge their action, like the stress profiling study conducted by Jeffrey R. Cram, Ph.D. (1949-2005) that confirmed "the psychophysiological effects of the flower essence studied", referring to the Rescue Remedy formula.
If the cat does not react to the collar you can leave it on. If the cat starts getting slightly nervous, take the collar off and still say soft, nice words.
Repeat the same process every day, keeping the collar on for longer periods.
Continue giving your cat the flower essence mixture.
