1
Pick a non-permanent marker to use on the minor scratches, which are often white, stripping away the actual color of the leather, but leave no tear. Pick a marker that matches the leather chair's color.
-
2
Apply small dots on the scratch with the marker. Let it dry for a minute. If the color looks darker than the chair's color, take a moist cloth and wipe the scratch once to lighten the color. Repeat if necessary until the marker color blends with the chair's color.

3
Identify deeper scratches and use orange oil on them. These are the scratches where you can see a little flap that is white in color. It is not a tear but it's the back side of the fabric.
-
4
Dab some orange oil on a soft cloth and apply it on the scratch. Make sure to rub it in the direction of the scratch. Do not rub in a circular motion as it could spread the oil to the other areas. Leave the oil on the scratch for an hour. The oil conditions the leather and makes the scratch less obvious. Repeat the step as the orange oil wears out.

5
Use a leather repair kit to fix scratches that are deeper with minor tears. You can get inexpensive kits from automotive stores. The kit will include a gel compound and a heating tool. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to patch up the scratch.
